Crews battled a fire in a Butler City apartment yesterday evening.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 6 p.m. for a fire at an apartment building in the 400 block of West North Street.
Dispatchers say a mattress caught on fire in an apartment. The initial call said one person was trapped inside the room.
Crews arrived and found smoke visible from the building and soon elevated it to a two-alarm fire.
Firefighters were able to help a person out of the building; that individual was taken to the hospital.
Crews got the fire under control by 6:30 p.m.
The Red Cross was called to assist those involved with the fire.
