A new marker commemorating General Marquis de Lafayette’s stop in the area will soon be installed in downtown Butler.
The Lafayette Trail marker will be positioned outside of the Butler County Courthouse in the coming months.
The marker was courtesy of The Lafayette Trail Inc.
A ceremony was held outside of the Lafayette Building on Main Street in Butler earlier this summer, honoring Lafayette’s visit to Butler in 1825.
County officials say they may need to rearrange the signs outside of the courthouse because of the growing number of historical markers.
