Two of the largest utility companies are planning a multibillion-dollar merger.
Essential Utilities announced plans to merge with American Water. The two organizations serve as the parent company for Peoples Natural Gas and Pennsylvania American Water.
The deal is worth an estimated $63 billion.
According to a company statement, there will be no change in rates.
The sale could close by the first quarter of 2027.
