As trick-or-treaters are expected to be out and about, AAA is reminding drivers and trick-or-treaters about some safety precautions.
Following these tips can prevent a spooky season turning scary for drivers.
- Designating a sober driver in advance
- Consider an overnight stay
- Do not let impaired guests drive
- Drive at least five miles per hour below the posted speed limit
- Be on the lookout for children
Trick-or-treaters should also be aware of some tips to be safe this Halloween.
- Stay together in groups and parents accompany children 12 and under
- Make sure costumes are visible when going from house to house
- Have a plan and route
- Always use sidewalks and if there is no sidewalk walk as far to the left of the road as possible, facing traffic
- Cross streets at corners only after looking left, right, and left
