Mars students are asking for help from the community through a few collections.
The Mars Area High School Marching Band is holding a Drive and Drop Shoe Collection today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Adams Ridge Clubhouse parking lot. Donations of new or gently used and clean shoes will be collected and redistributed to micro-entrepreneurs in developing nations through the group Funds2Orgs. Donations of ice skates, roller blades, or wheelie shoes will not be accepted.
Also, the Mars Area Primary Center, Elementary, Centennial, and Middle Schools will be collecting leftover Halloween candy tomorrow through November 12th to benefit Harvest Street Mission which provides support for Pittsburgh’s homeless residents. All candy must be in original wrappers and unopened. Donations can be dropped off at the schools’ main offices during school hours.
Finally, Mars Area School District is joining with the Rich-Mar Rotary to hold a Warm Donations Collection Drive to benefit local families through next Friday (11/14). Donations of winter hats, gloves, mittens, or scarves can be dropped off at the main offices for any facility during school hours.
