There’s still time for local first responders to apply for state funding.
$250,000 in 2025 Act 13 Unconventional Gas Well Fund Grants are administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner for fire companies, rescue companies and EMS located in the 40 counties with unconventional gas wells including Butler.
Eligible projects include development, delivery and sustainment of training, professional certification, or the acquisition of specialized equipment for emergency responses relating to natural gas production from unconventional gas wells.
More information about these grants can be found through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner website by the deadline of Sunday at 4 p.m.
