A Cranberry Township mechanic is facing more charges after police say he illegally loaned a vehicle he was supposed to repair.
68-year-old Keith Smith, the owner of Oilology a mechanic shop on Route 228, was charged again Tuesday by police.
In January, a customer paid Smith over $1,800 to repair damage to their vehicle, but was given excuses until July on why work had to be delayed.
The customer was then given a loaner vehicle that allegedly belonged to another customer that had left their vehicle with Smith.
When the first customer eventually received their vehicle back in September, no work was completed. When the second customer received their vehicle back an additional 4,700 miles was on their vehicle’s odometer.
Police used traffic cameras to identify the first customer driving the second across Butler and Allegheny Counties.
Smith has been charged with deceptive business practices and several similar charges. He’s being held in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bond as the investigation into alleged crimes are ongoing.
