Butler County is moving forward with a new contract for their mass notification system.
The county reached an agreement with Regroup Mass Notification to take over their alert system.
Previously, the county used CodeRed, but officials say that all of the data used to contact residents was wiped out. It’s unclear the reason why.
Regroup uses publicly available information like phone numbers and emails to alert county residents of an emergency. This would be for situations like severe weather, 911 outages, or other emergencies.
The cost to the county is over $21,000.
County residents will also be able to sign up for the mass notification system on the Butler County website.
