The Commonwealths top enforcement office is reminding Pennsylvanians to be aware of holiday scams involving pets.
Attorney General Dave Sunday reminds residents that pet scams are often seen during the holiday season along with predatory pet financing schemes.
Potential scams may offer puppies for thousands of dollars with high interest loans, requesting payment online or through apps, refusing to share breeder names, and sell puppies that are ill or underage. Residents are advised to explore breed-specific rescue groups or if purchasing directly from a breeder, request to meet the mother of the animal.
Anyone who believes that they may have been scammed is advised to file a report with local police and file a complaint with the attorney general’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
