Butler County has been chosen to receive state funding for improvement projects.
According to Governor Josh Shapiro, the county has been approved for an over $2.5 million Multimodal Transportation Fund grant to repair five poor-condition bridges in Penn and Jefferson townships.
A total of $47 million has been designated to accomplish 54 highway, bridge, bike, and pedestrian projects in 34 counties.
PennDOT evaluated applications and made selections based on criteria including safety benefits, regional economic conditions, technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability. The next round of grant applications opens January 5th.
