Snow is moving into Butler County this afternoon and more is expected to continue to come down this week.
Current projections have one to three inches of snow moving into the area this afternoon into the evening and then more snow is expected tomorrow.
Chris Leonardi a meteorologist with the National Weather Service says the amount of snow may not be the issue.
“Whatever snow [we] do get could come down very heavily at times,” said Leonardi. “There could be a snow squall pattern where visibility could drop very quickly less than down to a half a mile. So although we’re not expecting huge amounts the snow could be intense for short burst so of course that could cause issues with travel.”
According to Leonardi snow accumulation will be larger on New Year’s Eve.
“We’re not expecting a continues heavy amount of snow but we do have several opportunities for snow over the next several days,” Leonardi said. “Right now the new years eve one looks like its gonna be the most significant with the best chance of getting two to maybe perhaps four inches of snow across Butler County.”
As temperatures quickly drop and the roads remain wet from remaining rain and snow drivers are warned to be weary of ice on roadways.
