After crews were called to the scene of an accident an officer on scene suffered a severe injury and required medical attention.
Just after noon as the snow began to fall several accidents were starting to be reported throughout Butler County. An officer on the scene of an accident on route 422 and I-79 was reported as struck by a vehicle by dispatchers.
According to dispatch, the officer suffered a broken foot and had a tourniquet applied. The injury was described as a severe injury and open wound.
The officer was then taken to Allegheny General for further treatment of the injury.
