A winter weather advisory will be in effect today due to the large snow storm moving into the area this New Year’s Eve, potentially causing problems for travel.
Snowfall is expected to start later this afternoon and then pick up heavily during the early evening.
“It’s actually a secondary cold front that’s going to come through, so it might actually be a line of snow showers with high snowfall rates, which could reduce visibility and create treacherous conditions,” Alicia Miller, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service said.
The heaviest snow is expected in between 7-11 p.m., which could cause travel problems for New Year’s Eve.
The National Weather Service is predicting anywhere from 3-5 inches.
