Butler City is considering pre-paying for a portion of a new fire truck that is in the process of being constructed.
According to City Fire Chief Chris Switala, the Pierce Saber Pumper ordered from Glick Fire Equipment Company last year has an option to pay $400,000 for the chassis by the end of this month in order to receive a $12,000 discount.
The City’s CFO has reviewed this option and believes that it would be the best choice. This basic model of truck costs a total of just over $900,000 and will be able to maneuver on city streets with no issues.
Council expects to vote on this motion later this month and receive the new vehicle by the end of this summer.
