A local Butler County farmer had a chance to visit the White House and shake hands with the President of the United States of America.
William Thiele was invited to the White House last week for the signing of the Federal Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act.
Thiele, a dairy farmer, called the experience surreal.
“It was very cool to meet the President and shake his hand. It doesn’t matter who the President is at the time, it’s still cool to meet the President and see the Oval Office,” Thiele said. “It was an awesome experience.”
Before the press conference the farmers were brought in to prepare for the press conference and that’s where Thiele says he saw the President’s charm.
“We all walked in and [Trump] said ‘What a group of beautiful farmers,’” Thiele said. “He’s a very down to earth kind of guy. He acts the same way when the cameras aren’t there. He acted the same way all the way around.”
The Federal Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act will see whole and two percent milk return to schools after being banned in 2010.
