Butler County Commissioners approved an assessment appeal of the Moraine Pointe Plaza, which will have major tax implications.
The reassessed value of a parcel of land at the plaza went from $68.3 million, and will be reduced on a three-year scale, moving to $41 million by 2027.
Over the next three years, the county, Butler Area School District, and Butler Township stand to lose over $488,000 in tax revenue.
Commissioners say they asked for additional information from the appraiser during appeal process, which started in 2024. From that, they learned there are multiple parcels of land in the Moraine Pointe Plaza, and this appeal pertains to just one parcel.
