Several emergency response crews in southern Butler County worked Thursday afternoon to rescue a man in Buffalo Township.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 1:30 p.m. for a person jumping off the rails to trails bridge over Buffalo Creek.
Crews from Buffalo Township responded and requested assistance for a rope rescue on the ice from Sarver and Saxonburg as well as the county’s water rescue team. The man later died according to police.
A portion of Monroe Road between South Pike and Kepple Road needed to be shut down for a time to allow crews access to the scene.
