I-79 has been shut down in both directions after a mass crash due to icy conditions in Jackson Township.
Just after 10 a.m., crews were called to I-79 in north and south at the Evans City and Zelienople exits for 30 to 40 vehicle accident according to dispatch.
After 11 a.m., officials move the start of the closure to Route 228 exit.
Details on the accidents are not clear but icy road conditions have been reported all morning on the major highway.
There have been several reported injuries from the crash but how many are unclear at this time.
