While Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget is asking for a more than five percent increase in spending compared to this year, there isn’t any additional funding coming to community colleges.
According to the PA Commission on Community colleges, the budget called for flat-funding in both operating and capital funding.
Officials with the organization say the proposal puts “further pressure on our 15 institutions.”
They argued for a six percent increase in funding, but did not see any increase compared to the current budget.
