After a brutal winter, the City of Butler is dealing with a shortage of road salt.
Butler City Mayor Bob Dandoy says that “supplies are dramatically low.”
The lack of salt can make it a challenge to melt snow on roads.
Dandoy said they’ll be able to plow, but might not have enough salt to spread throughout the city.
Meanwhile, Butler Township officials say they have enough supply and will be able to continue winter maintenance uninterrupted.
County officials say they’ve only had one other municipality reach out about a shortage. When that happens, the county contacts PEMA who then coordinates through the state’s emergency management agency.
Although they note there is no guarantee additional salt will arrive.
