The Boston Bruins defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 last night. Similar to their shoot-out loss to the New York Rangers on the road last Saturday, the Penguins led early, but the Bruins scored two goals within a span of 50 seconds to take the lead. All of last night’s scoring came in the first period. Erik Karlsson scored the Penguins lone goal, 50 seconds into the game. It was his fifth of the season. Goaltender Stuart Skinner stopped 26 of 28 shots from the Bruins.
The Penguins return home to host the Buffalo Sabres tomorrow night.
They host Philadelphia Saturday evening, then Boston comes to Pittsburgh late Saturday afternoon.
The Penguins have been among the best teams in the NHL since Christmas. They have scored points in 20 of 24 games (16-4-4). The have had the highest goal output in the NHL (over four goals per game), The lowest goals-against average (2.20), and the second-best penalty kill percentage at more than 89%.
