The public is invited out to a couple of events at Moraine State Park this weekend.
First, Moraine State Park staff and experienced members of the local birding community will welcome interested birders of all skill levels for a Waterfowl Walk near the Region 2 Office from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Moraine is a top birding destination for birds such as mallards as well as wood and ruddy ducks. Participants are asked to dress for the weather, and to bring water and snacks if desired. Staff also asks that visitors bring binoculars if possible.
Also on Saturday, an Oyster Mushroom Workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon at Moraine’s North Shore Pavilion 7 McDanels Launch Area. Adult beginners interested in participating will be able to learn about how to identify and grow these delicious delicacies at home by creating a grow log. The cost is $10 and pre-registration through the DCNR Calendar of Events website is required.
