Butler City Council has approved a new contract with the local firefighters’ union.
The three-year agreement with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 114, is retroactive from January 1st of this year through the end of 2027.
Changes from the previous contract include a pay raise of 8% in the first year and continuing with a 3% raise the next two next years and more regular hours in exchange for less overtime and an increase in health contributions.
Council previously approved a tentative version of the agreement in July of last year but attorneys for both groups spent the next eight months reconciling the tentative agreement with the previous agreement that the firefighters had been working under.
The 18 members of the firefighters union have already ratified the deal.
