Butler City Council has approved payment to a local business for providing snow removal assistance during the big January snowfall.
At their meeting Monday night, council authorized payment of just over $75,000 to Wiest Asphalt Products and Paving, Inc for snow removal from the City’s business district.
According to Councilman Troy Douthett, 10 to 12 vehicles were utilized to remove and haul a significant amount of snow for an unspecified amount of time in order to accomplish the task.
Declaring a State of Emergency allowed the city to move more quickly to accomplish the work but it is not likely that any government funds will be available to reimburse this expense.
Mayor Bob Dandoy expressed a desire to update the city’s disaster relief plan in the next several months in order to make sure that the city is as ready as possible for the next difficult situation.
