Gas prices continue to rise both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, increased by 23 cents to reach $3.97 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole also jumped by 23 to sit at $3.96. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.77, while the most expensive is in Oil City at $4.00.
The average national gas price is up by 24 cents over the past week to $3.95 as well as over a dollar higher than last month. This is attributed to seasonal changes as well as the ongoing U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran. Gasoline demand decreased last week but the price of oil increased to over $96 a barrel.
