A bill that would codify gay marriage in the Commonwealth has officially been introduced into senate committees.
House bill 1800, introduced by Representative Malcom Kenyatta of Philadelphia, an openly gay man, would repeal the definition of marriage as being between a man and woman.
Thus, codifying gay marriage in Pennsylvania regardless of federal law.
The bill passed the house with bipartisan support, with a vote of 127 to 72.
The bill is now in the Senate State Government Committee which is controlled by Republicans.
