The state’s top law enforcement official has announced that a federal jury has returned a verdict against a company with a near-monopoly on tickets to live entertainment.
According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, this verdict comes after he and a bipartisan coalition of Attorneys General refused a proposed settlement between the U.S. Department of Justice and Ticketmaster which is owned by Live Nation Entertainment.
The jury found the companies liable on all monopolization counts and awarded damages to the states. The federal judge who oversaw the trial will determine remedies for the illegal conduct at a separate proceeding on a later date.
Among remedies under consideration would be to force Live Nation to divest Ticketmaster or award financial compensation for consumers who paid more than they should have for tickets in a competitive market.
