Today is the first day of the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.
With hundreds of thousands expected to be in attendance over the weekend, the draft is projected to be a major economic driver for the region.
“Overall, we expect $200 to $300 million in economic impact to Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas,” Shapiro said.
He also believes the draft will serve as a catalyst for future growth.
“I’ve invited CEOs and business leaders from across the country to be in Pittsburgh to get to know one another,” Shapiro said. “We want to focus on making connections that lead to making economic development down the road.”
Butler County is expected to also benefit from the draft, with hotels and restaurants, especially in Cranberry, projecting big crowds throughout the next three days.
