After accepting payment from insurance for roof repairs a Butler man is now facing charges for attempting to file another claim for the same damage.
In June of 2025, 53-year-old James Wilson filed a claim for a damaged Butler Township home roof.
According to charging documents, that was the second time Wilson filed the claim for the roof. The first claim occurred in 2023.
It’s alleged Wilson took a $4,000 payment from the insurance company to pay a contractor to repair the roof but police alleged the repair never happened which led to further damage and the second claim filling.
Wilson has been charged with incomplete insurance claim and theft by deception.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 7.
