A Butler man accused of homicide is facing new charges after it’s alleged he was found with a weapon in the Butler County Prison.
Officers at the prison say they were told that 37-year-old Richard Swann II may have weapons on him. Following an investigation, Swann admitted to having two metal shanks.
He’s now facing charges of inmate procure self with a weapon.
Swann is charged with killing 69-year-old James Hoover at a home in Butler back in February.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 11 for the new charges.
No trial date has been set for the murder charges held against Swann.
