A new report from PennDOT shows the number of people who died in traffic accidents last year was the lowest ever recorded.
The study found that 1,047 people died in an accident last year, which was down 80 from 2024.
The total number of crashes also went down to nearly 110,000—just shy of 1,000 of those were fatal.
There were also a couple of other notable stats:
- Impaired driver crashes were recorded at 258, the lowest on record.
- The number of fatal accidents where someone wasn’t wearing a seatbelt was 259—again the lowest ever recorded.
- Fatalities due to aggressive driving went up; bicyclist fatalities also increased slightly to 28.
PennDOT officials say they continue to invest in behavioral safety programs and infrastructure improvements.
