The highest court in Pennsylvania is now alerting the public of a text scam.
Officials are alerting the public to text message scam that uses “spoof” or mimic phone number.
The text alleges the Supreme Court has scheduled a “mandatory court appearance for traffic offenses” listing court officials as contacts and claiming fines and fees will be applied. The text will also include a link to pay the fines and fees, but this is a fake link.
The Supreme Court will never call or text soliciting payments via credit card, gift card, or any other electronic funds transfer.
If you receive a call or text like this do not provide any personal information and report it to the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection at (800) 441-2555 or cams@attorneygeneral.gov.
