The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation road construction season is underway including a lot of work around Butler County.
Some projects currently underway include:
– paving nearly 6 miles of Route 68 – Evans City Road
-a safety improvement project on Three Degree Road in Adams and Middlesex townships anticipated to finish in November
– a safety improvement project along Franklin Road in Cranberry Township from 228 to Peters Road through next fall
-intersection improvements and replacement of the Karns Crossing Bridge on Route 68 with as estimate for completion in two years
Other projects are scheduled to begin this year such as:
-a safety improvement project along the Route 68/Route 356 corridor
– preservation activities and preventive maintenance of Shearer Bridge
– preservation activities for the Zelienople Bridge carrying Route 19
-resurfacing along Route 8 in Butler and Center townships between Ravenshurst Road and Route 308
-resurfacing along Route 422 from Slippery Rock to Muddy Creek Townships
All of these projects should be completed this fall. Motorists are asked to be extra cautious while traveling, especially in work zones.
