The Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office says there has been a decrease in the number of people signing up for federal safety net programs.
The IFO says that due to new SNAP regulations, lacking ACA expansion, and increased immigration enforcement, enrollment for these programs have dropped.
SNAP has seen a 12 percent decrease in enrollment due to the expansion of new able-bodied requirements to qualify.
Officials with the IFO say Medical Assistance has gone down due to mix-status families that are reluctant to reenroll due to concerns with potential implications.
Although, new ACA work requirements do not begin until January 2027, there has already been a 3.3 percent decrease in enrollment.
