Attorney General Dave Sunday has announced that a Lawrence County personal care administrator was sentenced after a resident died due to failing to renew medication prescription nearly five years ago.
Prosecutors say 50-year-old Kelly Gonzales of New Castle was working at the ARC in 2021 when a resident died after not receiving their medication for over 10 days. Colleagues testified they instructed Gonzales to refill the prescription before the resident’s death.
Gonzales was found guilty in February and was sentenced this week to three years in prison. She was also ordered to pay over $5,000 in restitution.
