Westinghouse is receiving federal funding that will go toward the expansion of their nuclear energy program.
The U.S. Department of Energy committed $17.5 billion to Westinghouse to develop additional nuclear reactors.
The plan is to build up to 10 reactors in the U.S.
Westinghouse officials say the investment in nuclear will lead to a better energy baseload and positive economic impact.
Westinghouse is based in Cranberry Township.
