The Knoch School Board will increase taxes as part of the budget for the 2026-27 school year.
During a special meeting earlier this week, board members approved a final general fund budget of just over $40 million which is an increase of about $300,000 compared to the current year.
The tax increase of nearly 3.3 mils is the maximum allowed, bringing the total tax rate for next year to just under 98 mils. The nearly $600,000 in additional revenue that the increase will bring allows Knoch to operate with a balanced budget.
The average property owner in the district will pay nearly $70 more. This is the first time Knoch has increased their tax millage in nine years.
