Gas prices continue to edge downward both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by seven cents to reach $4.30 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by nine cents to reach $4.14. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.48, while the most expensive is in Uniontown at $4.53.
The average national gas price dropped by seven cents over the past week to $3.79 which is 40 cents less than a month ago and 77 cents less than the high mark in May. Although gasoline demand increased over the holiday weekend, the price of oil fell to nearly $69 a barrel.
