A Butler man is behind bars after he allegedly threatened a young child and barricaded himself inside a City home.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of Mercer Street.
Charging documents say a man and his five-year-old boy were walking by Keith Barnes, when he allegedly pointed a rifle at the two and said he was going to shoot them.
The police were called and responded to Barnes’ home. When they arrived, Barnes grabbed what appeared to be a rifle and then barricaded himself inside the house.
He eventually surrendered to police and was taken into custody. Following an investigation, police say the rifle turned out to be a paint gun.
Barnes remains in the Butler County Prison.
