A former employee of Miller’s Meats on Main Street has been charged for allegedly stealing over $40,000 worth of equipment.
After reviewing security footage on the property, the owner accused former employee 50-year-old William Scott of breaking in through the back door. Scott allegedly took out the equipment, put it into a truck, and drove away.
The truck Scott used belonged to another man, who confirmed to investigators he allowed Scott to borrow the truck.
Scott is accused of stealing 18 smokers, 10 smoker grates, 12 dunnage racks, and 1,000 stainless steel smoker sticks, for a total of $48,875.
Scott has been charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking. He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
