There are two Butler County school districts on lockdown.
The Butler Area School District is on a perimeter lockdown, along with the Moniteau School District.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brian White the district was contacted by the Butler County 911 Center and were directed to put all schools on lockdown.
White said the threat came through the 911 Center. Parents and guardians can pick up their children, but are not allowed to enter the school.
Meanwhile, Moniteau said they are also on an external lockdown. Officials with the district say that order came “based on advisement from State Police. In Moniteau, no students or staff will be allowed to leave the buildings.
No other details were available about the specific nature of the threats. We’ve reached out to state police to learn more.
