An effort to get more paramedics and EMTs in the local workforce continues to grow.
Butler County approved another session of the paramedic training program to begin soon. The 18-month training is run out of Butler County Community College and it offers free paramedic training for up to eight Butler County residents.
The program is ready to graduate its first class; who are then required to work in Butler County for at least one year.
Meanwhile, the EMT training program also continues to see success. It’s getting ready to prepare for its fourth class.
Director of Emergency Services Steve Bicehouse says the program is showing results.
“I personally know I don’t see the gaps in coverage that we used to,” Bicehouse said.
Bicehouse added that the EMT program has been extremely successful and they have filled a majority of positions.
