The Heisman Trophy finalists were announced last night, and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley is not one of them. The finalists are: Baker Mayfield-Oklahoma quarterback, Bryce Love-Stanford running back, and Lamar Jackson-the Louisville quarterback who won the award last season.
Barkley rushed for more than 500 yards in his first four games and appeared to be a lock for a time, but broke the 100-yard barrier just twice in the Nittany Lions final eight games. He finished second in all-purpose yards in the nation, and was named the Big Ten Conference offensive player of the year, running back of the year and return specialist of the year.
Pitt return specialist and wide receiver Quadree Henderson has announced he will leave Pitt following his junior season and has declared for the NFL Draft.
