High School Sports from Wednesday

A former coach and three athletes will be inducted into the Butler High School Sports Hall of Fame this week. Dave McKinnis is a former Boys and Girls Gymnastics Coach who had a combined record of 126 wins and just 23 losses in his tenure.

Multi-sport athlete Gwen Murray will be honored for her abilities Track & Field and Volleyball.

Joshua Barthlow for swimming and Jeff Diehl for golf.

Each will be recognized during a reception Friday evening and then introduced prior to the Butler High School Boys basketball game against Pine-Richland.

High School Sports from Wednesday:

Boys Basketball:

–Carmody, Kentucky defeated Mars 78-76 in the opening game of the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. Robby Carmody led the Planets with 30 points.

–Keystone-20 Moniteau-15. The Warriors led 11-10 at the half, and a total of four points were scored in the third quarter.

–AC Valley-64 Redbank Valley-40. Dalton Callander led the Falcons with 18 points.

Bowling:

—The Butler Bowling teams swept Seneca Valley 7-0 Wednesday at Mars Lanes. Cole Thrash led the Boys with a 654 series which included a high game of 234. Jordan Reges added a 629 series with a high game of 235. The Butler Boys have won 48 games in a row and have not lost a regular season match since December of 2015.

The Butler Girls were led by Mercedes Belch with a 515 series and high game of 198. Nicole Nebel added a 506 series. The Girls have won 35 games in a row.

Both teams improved to 4-0 this season and return to section play January 8th against North Allegheny.

–Freeport Boys defeated Shaler 5-2. Shaler Girls swept Freeport 7-0.

–North Allegheny Boys and Girls swept Mars 7-0.

–Armstrong Boys and Girls swept Valley 7-0.
