The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team fell to IUP 89-85 Monday night. The Rock outscored the Crimson Hawks 68-59 from the field, but IUP went 30-of-36 from the free throw line which decided the game. Slippery Rock was 17-of-27. The loss snapped an SRU 10-game winning streak. The Rock is now 12-3 overall and 6-3 in the PSAC. IUP is now 11-4 overall, but 7-1 in conference-play.
The Rock women fell to IUP 76-50.
The West Virginia Mountaineers have climbed to the #2-ranking in the latest Associated Press men’s basketbal rankings. It is the highest ranking for West Virginia since 1959. Villanova is the new #1 after losses in the past week by previous #1 Michigan State and #2 Duke.
