The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Penguins goaltender Matt Murray has returned to the team after the sudden death of his father. Bryan Rust was also back at practice Monday and is expected to return tonight. The Penguins have sent forward Daniel Sprong back Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Pens are 0-2 this season against Carolina, but the Hurricanes have lost five of their past seven games since defeating the Penguins 4-0 on January 4th. Carolina lost to Las Vegas 5-1 last night.
The Penguins begin the night just outside of an Eastern Conference playoff spot. The Pens are tied with the New York Rangers with 53 points, but would lose the current tie-breaker. Carolina is in last place in the Metropolitan Division, three points behind the Pens.
Face-off is 7pm. WISR will join the game following Knoch basketball.
