The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-3 in exhibition baseball Monday in Bradenton. Newly acquired Jordan Lyles pitched two innings and allowed a run. Lyles is the favorite to win the fifth starting position for the Bucs. The Pirates are 3-0 in Grapefruit League play and visit Minnesota today at 1:05pm.
