The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has announced $5.6 million in funding for abandoned mine lands and drainage restoration projects including in Butler County.
Over $5.6 Million will be given out with the largest amount going to the Allegheny Land Trust at $2.7 million while Stream Restoration Incorporated will be granted just over $250,000.
The money will go towards water monitoring, design, and future rehabilitation and reconstruction of the De Sale Phase I and II passive treatment systems, near the Eau Claire area.
The project has been made possible through the Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act.
