The AC Valley School District is proposing a roughly $21 million budget without a tax increase.
The school board looked at two options and settled on a 0 percent tax increase. However, because AC Valley has four counties in their district, they are subject to a state “rebalancing formula.”
That means the tax rate can fluctuate from county-to-county depending on a number of factors.
Officials say some in the district will see a slight increase in taxes, while others will have their taxes go down.
District leaders are advocating for a change in state law on the rebalancing formula and believe it would be better to set tax rates as a board.
