The state’s attorney general is warning seniors about a scam involving medical equipment.
Officials say the trending scam is targeting Medicare recipients. It starts with seniors receiving a piece of durable medical equipment, which includes oxygen or wheelchairs.
The scammer sends it to the senior without it being prescribed, so the scammer can collect a payout from the patient or the Medicare program.
The attorney general says to check your Medicare claims regularly, report unsolicited items received through the mail, and pause before you pay.
